About Lisa
I come from a very food-focused family. My parents were Italian, so food was central to my life. I watched my dad struggle with complications of diabetes, and my mom yo-yo diet for years. Food is in my blood, so to speak. As a post-menopausal woman with rheumatoid arthritis, I advise men and women with autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalance, heart disease, gastrointestinal disease, and cancer. In my 35 years as a dietitian, I've written 3 cookbooks (gout, thyroid disease, and heart disease) and have counseled countless patients with similar conditions. I take a personalized approach to nutrition counseling and focus on what we can add to your diet instead of what we should take away.
Approach to care
I cut through the nutrition noise you've heard over the years and provide holistic, research-backed care to get to the root of your problem. I review your pain points and personalize nutrition information (recipes, meal ideas, shopping tips, etc), based on your medical history, culture, food preferences/tolerances, lifestyle, budget, time, and skill level. My goal is to collaborate with you on a plan to feel your best and have the energy to do the things you want, while still enjoying the foods you love.
Your first session with Lisa
At your first session, I'll pepper you with questions to get to know and understand you better. We'll discuss your lifestyle, health goals, current diet, labs, sleep, stress, and exercise. After the session, you'll receive a summary and information (handouts, recipes, etc.) in the Nourish app. I encourage questions and look forward to working with you!
