โAbigail was very enjoyable to work with- she taught me a lot and helped me to brainstorm lots of ideas about foods I could eat on a strict diet. I am very grateful for her help.โ

About Abigail
Thoroughly midwestern, I was raised in Illinois and currently make my home in Wisconsin. I have been an avid runner since my elementary school days, and when a dietitian came to talk to my track team in high school, I knew that was the career for me. I know what it is like to face nutrition obstacles during training, and I saw many of my teammates suffer from nutrition-related problems as well. Most concerning was the prevalence of disordered eating I saw during youth and collegiate sports careers. I chose to specialize in sports nutrition and disordered eating because I saw a need in the athletic community to prioritize non-diet, weight-inclusive nutrition education. I have worked with many active individuals including middle/high school, NCAA Division I/II/III, NAIA, amateur, professional, and recreational athletes. I also have extensive experience supporting adult and adolescent eating disorder patients at various higher levels of care.
Approach to care
My sports nutrition philosophy is informed by weight-inclusive and Health at Every Size principles, meaning I don't label food or bodies as "good" or "bad." I am a Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) Informed provider and have trained under experts in the field to incorporate these concepts into nutrition care. My approach to nutrition work combines client-centered compassion with a research-based focus to ensure that I am meeting clients where they are at while utilizing the science to help them achieve their goals. I approach fueling from a food-first perspective, assisting clients with translating nutrition recommendations into practical and sustainable solutions. When needed, I integrate families into nutrition planning to support younger athletes' lifelong performance and recovery. Personality-wise, I appreciate a laid-back, humorous, relational approach to life.
