About AJ
AJ Doh, RD, LD, CSCS, NSCA-CPT. I officially became a Registered Dietitian in August 2014. Always been passionate in helping people become the absolute best version of themselves!... Life can be hard and challenging at times. My wide range of experience from sports nutrition, to diabetes, to kidney failure, dialysis, bariatric health, bariatric surgery, cancer/oncology, pediatrics, etc... allows me to provide specialized care to just about everyone. I earned my BS (Double Major) in Dietetics (Nutrition & Foods) and Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning) from Appalachian State University. I am also certified through the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) as a Certified Personal Training (CPT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Outside of being a Dietitian/Health Coach, I have personal interests in basketball, track and field (sprint/hurdles), enjoying music, or caring for our many family pets (cat and dog rescues).
Approach to care
At the end of the day, we are all people - “I was a person before becoming a dietitian”; therefore, even as a dietitian, I also need to constantly remind myself to practice healthier habits. It can be easy to slack and “get off-track”, but a longer and more enjoyable life is the true motivation!… My approach is centered around meeting you where YOU are currently, keeping things realistic, and building from there. We will always work together as a team to lay out a plan that honors your values, fits your life, and focuses on lasting habits over quick/temporary results. I come with absolutely no judgement… only with the desire to provide clear guidelines and accountability that will help you get the most out of life! My coaching uses a Holistic approach that takes your whole life into consideration (sleep, stress, activity, culture, family, etc). I embrace a “Health At Every Size” mindset to focus on behaviors that improve health with any body type or shape.
Your first session with AJ
Our first appointment/session is all about learning who you are, what you do, and how you truly want to live in the future. We will take time to thoroughly review your life, medical history, lab work (if available), and biometrics (height & weight history). I will need to learn about your daily routine and current eating habits; all that you do for work and exercise throughout the week; what you drink, etc… We will establish 1-3 short term goals and always keep things within your own personal tastes preferences/desires. We will do a deep dive into your relationship with food, see what has worked for you in the past, and help you get through any challenges. If anything is too much or too soon, we can always start small and make simple, sustainable changes at first. Nourish has a whole database of resources that allow us to create realistic meal plans. No need to have it all figured out yet — just show up as you are, and we’ll take it from there with support and collaboration.
