About Alexis
My name is Alexis Zontini, but you can call me "Alex". I have been a Registered Dietitian since 2017 working in long-term care, community outreach, acute care and most recently, clinical nutrition management. I am born and raised in Ohio where I still live with my partner and our two boys. I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.
Approach to care
My approach to care would most importantly be treating the individual and not the condition. I believe there is not a "one size fits all" approach to health management. I appreciate everyone's unique differences and backgrounds and welcome the strengths and challenges those qualities may bring to your care and want to help you navigate patterns and beliefs that may be standing in your way. As far as my approach to eating, I lean towards a functional nutrition philosophy. I believe whole foods are medicine and the more plants we can eat, the better we will feel. At the same time, I know the reality of the food landscape we are surrounded by and that life is complicated which makes rigidity within a diet pattern to be intimidating and not always the best road to go down. Adaptability and flexibility are key to creating realistic health goals.
Your first session with Alexis
Generally, during the first session, we will get to know each other and set up the course of care. I'll be gathering relevant information in order to set a couple small goals to work on before the second session. I will ask about your food and exercise patterns, typical day-to-day lifestyle, family history, daily stressors, sleep patterns, medications, and medical conditions you may currently have. We will start big-picture with your general health concerns and work our way to the small stuff and daily habits/rituals that will have the biggest impact towards achieving success. We will end the session by scheduling out future appointments in order to keep momentum going and build on successes without losing any progress.
