About Allison
Allison Backer is a Registered Dietitian with New York State and Maine. She received her nutrition degree and completed her Dietetic internship with C.W. Post at Long Island University. Allison has worked as a Dietitian for over the past 20 years in various clinical settings. She has a great deal of experience working with chronic kidney disease/dialysis patients. She is trained in nutrition counseling for chronic diseases as well as weight management. She has also worked as a freelance writer for Oxygen magazine as well as RaceTimes a digital magazine.
Approach to care
Allison focuses on an empathetic approach during her sessions. She will take the time to get to know you and what led you to seek nutrition counseling. Allison will make you feel comfortable and provide a judgement free space to discuss your goals.
Your first session with Allison
Allison will review your medical history, activity levels, current medications and/or supplements as well as any available blood work. She will discuss what approaches you may have used in the past. You will work together to create a plan that best suits your lifestyle and preferences.

Allison resides on Long Island, New York. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, dog and two Guinea pigs! She is an avid fitness enthusiast. She trains for endurance competitions.
