About Alyssa
I became a dietitian because I’ve always loved food and wanted to help others in a meaningful way. After earning my degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln I completed my dietetic internship at Iowa State University the following year. Early in my career, I worked with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds on goals related to weight changes, building healthier eating habits, and navigating grocery shopping and meal planning. Over time, I spent several years as a clinical dietitian specializing in oncology nutrition, supporting patients through cancer treatment and recovery. These experiences shaped my realistic approach to nutrition and my desire to make food and health feel simpler, not overwhelming.
Approach to care
I help individuals build sustainable nutrition habits that support overall health without rigid rules or unrealistic goals. My approach is rooted in intuitive eating and focuses on small, meaningful steps that fit your life. I believe nutrition works best when we collaborate and move at a pace that feels supportive, not overwhelming. I bring experience working with adults navigating cancer care and aging, and I tailor recommendations to meet you where you are. Together, we’ll focus on progress that feels achievable and empowering.
Your first session with Alyssa
Our first session is focused on getting to know you, your health history, relationship with food, daily routines, and what you’d like support with. We’ll talk through your goals and identify practical next steps that feel manageable and relevant to your life. You can expect a supportive, judgment-free conversation where we create a plan that meets you where you are and sets the foundation for sustainable progress.
