About Amber
Hi! I’m Amber, a Registered Dietitian based in Iowa City, IA, with 17 years of clinical experience in the hospital setting. Throughout my career, I’ve worked alongside individuals navigating a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including liver disease, pancreatitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and recovery from bowel surgeries. I understand how complex and personal digestive health can be, and I strive to provide clear, practical guidance tailored to each individual’s needs. In addition to gastrointestinal nutrition, I have experience supporting women through the perimenopause and menopause transitions, as well as guiding safe and sustainable weight loss approaches, including the use of GLP-1 medications. I recognize that these seasons of life bring unique challenges, and I’m passionate about helping women feel informed, supported, and empowered in their choices.
Approach to care
I take an evidence-based, integrative approach to care, always looking at the whole person — not just a diagnosis or a number on a chart. I meet you where you are and tailor our work together to fit your unique goals, lifestyle, and stage of life. As a true foodie, I believe balance matters and that every food can have a place in a healthy life. Whether you’re managing a medical condition or simply hoping to feel your best, I’m here to help you create realistic, lasting changes that make a meaningful impact. Our work goes beyond food alone. We consider sleep, stress, mood, and daily routines — because sustainable change happens when we address the full picture. I believe lasting progress comes from small, steady steps. I approach nutrition with curiosity, empathy, and a deep commitment to evidence-based practice. I’m nonjudgmental, supportive, and dedicated to helping you build habits you understand, enjoy, and truly own. It’s an honor to walk beside you on your health journey.
Your first session with Amber
Your first appointment is a warm, judgment-free conversation focused entirely on you. We’ll take time to review your medical history, lab work, biometrics, and current routines so I can fully understand your health story. Together, we’ll identify both short-term and long-term goals that feel realistic and meaningful. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you arrive — this process is about building sustainable lifestyle changes that truly fit your life. My goal is to make your first session a positive, stress-free experience where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with confidence.
