About Amy

I am a registered dietitian dedicated to helping individuals improve their health through practical, personalized nutrition. I do not believe that restrictive diets or "one size fits all" plans are helpful; nor do they work long-term. Through Nourish, I work with clients wherever they are, making expert nutrition support accessible, flexible, and convenient. I have been a registered dietitian for over 18 years. I received my bachelor's degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in 2006. I then completed my dietetic internship through UAB (The University of Alabama at Birmingham) in 2007. I have also spent the last 15 years teaching nutrition at our local community college in my spare time. I have spent my career helping clients feel less pressure to have the "perfect" diet. When you work with me, you will have the knowledge and understanding to structure your diet in a way that feels like freedom. Freedom to choose. Freedom to enjoy food. Freedom from guilt.

Approach to care

I am committed to helping you achieve your health goals. My approach focuses on sustainable habits, evidence-based guidance, and understanding the whole person—not just the numbers. Whether you’re managing a medical condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, improving your relationship with food, or working toward specific health goals, I meet you where you are and help you build confidence around nutrition and meal planning. Changing or understanding your diet can feel overwhelming and complex. However, I will help you break this process down into manageable sections so that you will not feel overwhelmed. After all, how do you build a house? One brick at a time!

Your first session with Amy

Your first session is all about getting to know you. We will talk through your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, and what led you to seek nutrition support. This is a judgment-free conversation—there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to eat and there are no "good" and "bad" foods (well, unless you are allergic to them, of course!) We will review your eating patterns, relationship with food, medical history, medications, lab work (if available), and any goals you have. Together, we will identify priorities and discuss how nutrition fits into your life right now. By the end of the session, you can expect: 1. A better understanding of how nutrition impacts your health 2. Personalized recommendations tailored to your needs and preferences 3. Small, realistic next steps you can start right away 4. A plan for follow-up sessions and ongoing support

Education

I received a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Auburn University in 2006 and completed my dietetic internship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) in 2007. I passed the exam to become a Registered Dietitian later that year.

Hobbies

My favorite thing to do when I have a moment to myself is to read. I aim to read 50 books each year and usually meet my goal. I also love yoga, walking outside, playing basketball with my boys (ages 9 and 11) and baking sourdough bread!
