βI had my first session with my nutritionist and it was a fantastic experience. She took the time to understand my habits and lifestyle, and we worked together to set some achievable goals for the coming week. Iβm excited to follow the plan and see the progress!β

About Amy
Hello! My name is Amy. I'm a registered dietitian with over ten years of experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings working with people of all age groups (premature infants through older adults). Throughout my career, I've consistently challenged myself to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible to help a wide range of people. The first five years of my journey I spent working with children. I gained experience in neonatal nutrition (NICU with premature infants), GI, nutrition counseling for disordered eating, and transitional care with patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition (tube feeding and IV nutrition). In 2019, I co-authored an enteral nutrition chapter for a pediatric textbook that serves as a resource for other dietitians. The last five years I've worked with adults with chronic kidney disease and a variety of other health conditions. I am currently a board certified specialist in renal (kidney) nutrition.
Approach to care
I've always had a strong interest in helping others and knew early on that I wanted to work in healthcare. I first became interested in nutrition when I was in college while taking a general nutrition course. During that time I started to make the connection between what we eat and how it affects our overall health and well-being. I decided at that time I wanted to become a dietitian. I myself struggled with GI issues throughout my childhood and adult life; later diagnosed with IBS and intolerance to both dairy and gluten. It has been a long journey discovering my trigger foods and which foods help keep me feeling my best. This is a journey I don't wish for any of my clients. I leave my sessions open to discuss any of your interests and concerns. I also work hard to stay up to date on current research and practice recommendations to best help you!! By the end of our sessions, my hope is to always be able to set realistic, achievable goals for our next session.
Your first session with Amy
Building a supportive relationship with you is my primary focus. This involves active listening in a safe and non-judgmental space. Our first session will be a relaxed discussion, which allows me to learn more about you and your health history. We will concentrate on your most critical concerns to help identify both short and long term health goals. I recognize that life has it's challenges. I use an individualized approach to help you set realistic goals that stick! I'm excited for our first visit together and look forward to supporting you on your journey to a healthier you!
