About Ana
Hi friends! My name is Ana OâConnell, and I am a registered dietitian based out of Austin, TX with a passion for using food as medicine. If you are overwhelmed by the amount of conflicting nutrition information and feel frozen by a fear of doing the âwrong thingâ, look no further! Partnering with you to help find a realistic starting point is my bread and butter (pun intended). I have experience in a broad variety of specialties such as diabetes, weight management, heart health, sports nutrition, prenatal care, and oncology. Food is a deeply unifying aspect of culture, and my approach focuses on tapping into the relationships youâve already developed to inspire sustainable shifts. I love my patients and I love food, so letâs work together to Nourish a healthy relationship between our food, our bodies, and our support system.
Approach to care
Our sessions will center around a foods-first approach. No long list of expensive supplements here! I often see clients struggle with questions like, "will I need to give up going out to eat or to happy hour with my friends to be âhealthyâ?" "How will I find the time to make these lifestyle changes?" "What if I just donât enjoy cooking?" Know this, friend. I am not afraid of the hard questions! There is no one-size fits all approach, so expect sessions to honor your personal preferences and emphasize success beyond the scale. Look forward to frequent check-ins from me about how you feel physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally â because improvements in those areas are considered successes in my eyes.
Your first session with Ana
Grab a mug of something warm, cuddle up in a blanket, and prepare for a conversation that will help me get to know the real you. We will talk about what your day-to-day life looks like as well as what youâre hoping to gain from our sessions. I love when my clients bring a list of questions or concerns and we get to work through them together in a judgement-free zone. Expect to share a story or two about your loved ones, and in return expect to hear about my fur baby (his name is Ollie!). I believe in leaving my clients with tangible resources in hand right from the get-go, and I like to wrap up our sessions with a quick Q&A â no nutrition-focused question off limits!
