About Anca-Maria

Hi, I’m Anca—a registered dietitian, nutrition educator, mother of daughters, doctoral candidate, and lifelong student. I have been a registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration since 2011. Nutrition is my lifelong passion and second career. I have experience providing medical nutrition therapy to diverse populations in various settings, where I deliver patient-centered nutrition rooted in evidence-based practice. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, a clinical internship at hospitals in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a Master’s in Nutrition Education at San Francisco State University, I pursued certificates of training with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in weight management, counseling, and mindful eating, and a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition at Rutgers University.

Approach to care

Your nutrition story is layered—emotionally, behaviorally, biologically—and deserves time to unfold. I don’t believe in quick fixes nor in one-size-fits-all plans. Let's work on: • Personalized Nutrition, tailored to your lifestyle. • Evolving Plans, adjusted as life unfolds. • Sustainable Journeys: no crash diets or revolutions—just short-term wins and long-term growth. I will partner with you in finding answers that resonate with your needs.

Your first session with Anca-Maria

The first session is 55 minutes (standard for all sessions), and focuses on hearing your main concerns and understanding your nutrition story. The first session is not a one-stop shop, and it differs from follow-up sessions because we first focus on understanding your routines, goals, and challenges. Some useful data: • Recent lab results, medical history, medications, supplements • Your daily routines, preferences, goals • Challenges you have faced with food, diet, and nutrition. As well as things you have tried. Best Practices recommend weekly appointments first month and aim for 12 sessions in 4-5 months to support progress to goals. Nutrition is not a one-and-done stop, but a process.
