About Andrea
Andrea Johnson is a registered dietitian with extensive experience spanning clinical nutrition, public health, higher-education teaching, private practice and community-based leadership. In addition to her work as a dietitian, Andrea has served as an executive director in the nonprofit sector, leading organizations and supporting individuals and communities through periods of growth, stress, and change. Andrea brings a grounded, real-world approach to nutrition counseling â one shaped by years of working with people navigating demanding careers, life transitions, mental health challenges, and competing priorities. She has particular expertise in nutrition for mental health, womenâs health, pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum nutrition, and fueling active lifestyles. Andreaâs style is collaborative, practical, and compassionate â focused on helping clients feel more confident, nourished, and supported in their daily lives.
Approach to care
Andrea believes nutrition should support your life â not complicate it. Her approach is rooted in the idea that food is not just fuel, but information, support, and care â especially during times of stress, transition, or healing. Rather than rigid plans or one-size-fits-all rules, Andrea focuses on understanding the full context of each clientâs life: workload, mental health, family dynamics, movement patterns, access to food, and personal goals. She prioritizes: Mental healthâinformed nutrition Sustainable, realistic strategies Respect for autonomy and lived experience Progress over perfection Andrea does not believe in extreme restriction, or chasing âidealâ diets. Instead, she works with clients to build trust with food, improve energy and focus, support emotional wellbeing, and create routines that are doable â even on hard days.
Your first session with Andrea
Andrea will take time to understand: Your current concerns and goals Your relationship with food and eating Energy levels, mood, stress, and sleep Health history, lifestyle, and daily routines What has (and hasnât) worked for you in the past You do not need to have food logs, perfect answers, or everything figured out. The goal of the first session is to establish trust, clarify priorities, and identify a few meaningful areas where nutrition can better support you right now. By the end of the session, you can expect: Clear next steps tailored to your life Practical strategies you can actually use A plan that feels supportive, not overwhelming Space to ask questions and be honest Follow-up sessions build on this foundation, adjusting strategies as your needs, circumstances, or goals change.
