About Angela
I have over a decade of feeding and eating disorder (ED) and co-occurring disorder experience at all levels of care (IP, Res, PHP, IOP, OP), with all ED diagnoses (ARFID, AN-R, AN-B/P, BN, BED, OSFED), in all stages of the life cycle (pediatric-adult). I have worked within several therapeutic models of treatment (ACT, CBT, DBT, FBT, etc.) within interdisciplinary treatment teams in the continuum of care and understand the unique ways in which EDs are experienced biologically, psychologically, and socially. Additionally, I have integrated medical nutrition therapy experience within the medical system, and I understand the unique physiological and psychological interplay of nutrition and disease. I am trained in disorders of gut-brain interaction (IBS), and I have experience in several gastrointestinal disorders and diseases. Many medical conditions overlap with disordered eating and ED's. I provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition rehabilitation for simultaneous conditions.
Approach to care
I believe that the earth naturally and miraculously provides an abundance of food that is amazingly nutritious... that the variety of nutritious foods available has provided for creative combinations and creations of food that are delicious... that a balance between nutritious & delicious food promotes biological, psychological, and sociological or holistic health & wellness... that food is medicine and is a necessary ingredient in physiological & psychological healing... that a healthy relationship with food maintains a balanced priority in one’s daily self-care and wellness routine... that health & wellness should not depend on socioeconomic status and that everyone should have access to nutritious food and healthcare... that health & wellness is not a socially standardized size and is by biological design intended for every-body... that it is in our nature to nurture health & wellness and that recovery or rediscovery of this is always possible!
Your first session with Angela
The therapeutic relationship is initiated by discussing physiological and psychological history, current concerns, health and wellness goals, and treatment recommendations. Treatment recommendations and goals will be reviewed, discussed, and collaborated upon and the therapeutic process towards health and wellness goals and resources to achieve goals will be explained. In family-based treatment (FBT), the first session includes the parents as well as the child or adolescent and parents are included in all subsequent sessions as applicable (child vs adolescent, FBT phase, etc.).
