About Anjuman

Hi! I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with over 9 years of experience providing person-centered, evidence-based, holistic nutrition counseling & care to diverse populations and age groups. I have a Master’s degree in Nutrition Education from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCLA. Born and raised in California as the child of immigrants, I grew up with a mother who instilled a love of food and flavor – we often explored other cultures through our taste buds! I work hard to ensure my clients are able to eat the foods they love and value while positively supporting their health. When working with me, you’ll get more than a trusted nutrition professional – I’ll be your advocate, cheerleader, and confidante too. I’m a mom, proud paw-rent to an adopted pup named Nala, and lover of food puns, rooftop views, and stand-up comedy. Some of my favorite foods include: any dish with eggplant, chutney sandwiches with Hot Cheetos, and lavender milk tea.

Approach to care

Food is more than just fuel to me – it’s a source of community building, celebration, comfort, and cultural heritage & identity. The relationship we have with food not only impacts our own health & well-being, but also how we connect with the world. Therefore, it's essential to foster a positive relationship with food in order to achieve optimal health and truly thrive. I launched my private practice, Shahnti Nutrition LLC, in 2021 to help increase access to inclusive, holistic, and culturally-competent care for BIPOC communities. My mission: to help my clients find peace and balance with food and their bodies. I'm excited to now be working with Nourish to support more people through insurance! I aim to empower my clients to feel and look their best through building balanced, sustainable lifestyle habits. I believe good health can be achieved at any size, and enjoy helping my clients find flexible and unrestrictive ways of eating and moving that work best for their bodies.

Your first session with Anjuman

In your first session, we'll talk through your health goals, current eating pattern & lifestyle habits, health history, & food preferences. My goal is to learn as much as I can about you and your relationship with food. Throughout our conversation, I'll provide several specific & realistic nutrition recommendations that align with your health goals, current lifestyle, & readiness for change. By the end of the session, you will choose 1-2 key suggestions to implement right away. I'll remain available to you between sessions to help answer any questions that arise along the way. For the record, I don't expect you to transform your eating and lifestyle overnight. However, I do expect you to stay open-minded, present, and willing to try through the process. We're always striving for progress, never perfection. Stay kind to yourself - with our powers combined, we'll gradually get you where you want to be. It’s an honor to be a part of your health journey!
