About Anne
Hello. I am a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Dietitian Nutritionist. I have taught college for twenty two years in a Nutrition program I created for future Registered Dietitians. Prior to that I worked as a Clinical and Therapeutic Dietitian in a hospital, home care, the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) and private practice doing one on one counseling. I specialize in weight management, pregnancy and infant/child nutrition as well as teenagers and Celiac/ gut health issues. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease twelve years ago and have been managing my disease as needed, being gluten free. As needed to teach nutrition and future dietitians, I keep current on all medical diets and research.
Approach to care
My outlook on counseling is helping patients find methods and build skills that will help them change. The goal is to be able to maintain a diet and life-style resulting in a healthier and more fit you. This individualized approach is never an "on again", off again plan. The focus is permanent changes that you find acceptable and can incorporate into your life. There are many ways to do this and I can help you find YOUR way.
Your first session with Anne
During the first session we will assess your health and identify your nutrition issues that need work. Not everything at once, small steps as you learn about your needs, nutrition and methods you can use to make changes. We will get to know each other during this visit so I can understand where you are coming from and you can understand my methods of helping you. I will give you some tasks to do until your next visit that will help create a plan. I want to show you how the process can be enjoyable and sometimes eye opening!
Education
Masters degree (MS) in Nutrition Education
Hobbies
I love anything outdoors and in nature no matter what the season. I enjoy my lake (I live in a lake community), my boat, swimming and hiking, I also enjoy reading fiction and non fiction books. I have four grandchildren, who are also like a hobby for me. Creating a love for outdoors with them is a great joy. I also enjoy the difference from being a parent to being a grandmother (way better!).
