About Annie

Born in Hong Kong, but raised in the Midwest (Kansas), my journey to nutrition started in college where the issue of hunger. Growing up in an immigrant family, nightly homemade meals quickly prepared by my Chinese mother was the norm. As one who thought about food and weight often in my teen and college years, I understand the struggles around body image and disordered eating patterns while living "between cultures". I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed lens having provided nutrition education to food pantry recipients in the urban setting, as a WIC dietitian for a diverse population in Chicagoland, and, most recently, with new refugees. After completing my 900-hour internship, I worked as a clinical dietitian for Saint Luke's Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO, where I worked in a variety of units including skilled nursing and cardiac rehab settings. I've also taught nutrition classes within a fitness center. I have a passion for supporting wellness through a healthy diet!

Approach to care

I will strive to listen well and understand the underlying concerns and challenges that may be hindering your progress in meeting longer-term, sustainable changes. Together, we will address your highest priority areas when it comes to nutrition and your relationship with food. I will provide honest and realistic feedback in a supportive, non-judgmental manner. My approach is relational with a common sense, balanced approach to life, as nutrition is just one of many lifestyle factors that contribute to optimal health.
