About Annie
Born in Hong Kong, but Midwest-bred, my interest in nutrition began as a college student involved in hunger and food insecurity as president of a student organization on campus. I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed lens having provided hands on cooking and nutrition classes to food pantry recipients in Kansas City, nutrition and breast-feeding education to WIC participants and case management and coordination for newly arrived refugees navigating resettlement. I have worked as an in-patient and outpatient dietitian and have led weight management classes within a fitness center. Outside of Nourish, I am an adult outpatient dietitian for Northwestern Medicine. I have a passion for providing culturally sensitive, evidence-based nutrition counseling and education with a specific interest in (pre)diabetes management, women's health and integrative-functional medicine.
Approach to care
Together, we will address your highest priority areas when it comes to your health and nutrition goals. I will provide honest and realistic feedback in a supportive, non-judgmental manner. Since nutrition is just one of a handful of key pillars that contribute to overall health quality, it's important that stress management, sleep and physical activity are assessed and considered when working together. I aim to be culturally responsive to a variety of food traditions and practices with an emphasis on the power of food as medicine in one's health journey!
Your first session with Annie
Gathering general lifestyle and dietary habits are discussed, as well as, as well as your comfort level in the kitchen, meal planning (or not) and the other humans in your life that may impact eating habits and patterns.
