About April
Hello! My name is April, and I have been practicing as a professional dietitian for 30-plus years. I have seen countless fad diets throughout the years. Fad diets can be appealing but they can also present health risks. I believe that sustainable lifestyle changes are the key to health, wellness, and happiness. My goal is to help you understand your body’s nutritional needs and help you achieve them through a balanced diet.
Approach to care
My mission is to help you find a way of eating that fits your lifestyle and meets your nutritional needs. The key to sustainable health and wellness is being able to follow a balanced, whole-food-based diet that can be maintained for the long term. Focusing on restrictions and elimination will not work. Instead, I want to help you identify nutrient-dense foods that will nourish your body and keep you feeling energized. I have learned over the years that foods should not be identified as “good” or “bad.” Utilizing moderation and variation in our diet is most desirable. Each individual is unique, and therefore, no one-size fits all. Good nutrition supports mental and physical wellness. It increases the efficiency of bodily functions, improves mood, and sharpness of mind. If you decide to partner with me, I would love to help you make the changes you desire and help you work towards the better you.
Your first session with April
Your first appointment with me typically takes about an hour, giving you ample time to discuss your health and nutrition goals in detail. During this visit, I will ask you a range of questions about your medical history, weight history, current medications, food preferences, allergies, and dietary habits. This process helps me to understand your baseline health and nutritional needs. At the end of the visit, we will set a few goals and schedule a follow-up visit.
