About April

I'm a registered dietitian and licensed dietitian/nutritionist based in North Carolina, with over 25 years of experience helping people improve their health through nutrition. My background spans various healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient care, and specialty programs. This range of experience gives me a solid foundation in both general wellness and complex health concerns like diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, IBS, and weight management. I've had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life. I bring clinical expertise and real-world understanding to every session. If you're looking for someone with deep experience who listens, supports, and helps you make sense of nutrition, I'd be honored to work with you.

Approach to care

I take a supportive, personalized nutrition approach grounded in your unique needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Food should be enjoyable, and your favorite foods can absolutely be part of a healthy lifestyle. If certain foods need to be limited for medical reasons, I’ll help you find satisfying alternatives that still bring you joy. I aim to offer flexible, realistic guidance that fits into your life—not vice versa. I focus on long-term habits over quick fixes and approach every session with encouragement, not judgment. With years of experience and tools like mindfulness, I’m here to help you build simple, sustainable, evidence-based strategies to support your health and well-being.

Your first session with April

Our first session will last about an hour and is about getting to know you and your unique needs and goals. I strive to make sure you feel heard, supported, and set up for success. I'll ask questions about your medical history, eating habits, lifestyle, and any challenges you've faced. We'll also discuss what you hope to accomplish while working with a dietitian and what outcomes matter most to you. From there, we'll work together to identify realistic goals. You'll leave the first session with clear, personalized steps to help you get started on the path to better health.
