About Arden

One of my most defining moments came during the state track meet in high school, when I collapsed before the finish line of the 2-miler due to hyponatremia (i.e., low blood sodium, in this case due to inappropriate fueling surrounding exercise). That experience opened my eyes to the role of nutrition in health and sport performance and set me on the path to study it more deeply. I have since generated 8 nutrition-related scientific publications and worked in areas of maternal, pediatric, and sports nutrition, dietary supplements, weight management, and metabolic health. I joined Nourish so that I could further help people realize their healthiest selves through nutrition! I can’t wait to meet you and help you work toward your health goals!

Approach to care

If you are looking for someone who combines science and personalization, I'm your dietitian! I aim to give you the tools to succeed and to send you out into the world with a healthy relationship with food and on a path toward greater health! You can expect thoughtful, holistic solutions that fit well into your daily life and to learn skills and knowledge that are adaptable to later challenges so we don’t have to see each other forever. I take time to learn about YOU before crafting sustainable, evidence-based nutrition solutions that, with perseverance, integrate seamlessly into your life. As a PhD in Nutrition and MS in Exercise Science, I’m uniquely qualified to understand 1) what evidence-based means, so I can help my clients navigate the tumultuous sea of nutrition misinformation, and 2) how diet and exercise interact to promote health and sport performance.

Your first session with Arden

In your first session, I will want to learn about you so I can truly personalize your solutions so they are affective for reaching your goals and as easy as possible to implement in your day-to-day. Once I understand what your goals are, both short and long, I want to gain an understanding of what your daily life is like and what potential barriers to meeting your goals could arise. For example, I might ask: What are your friends and family (pets included!) like and how do you spend time together? What are your hobbies? How long and well do you sleep? Do you like to cook? Do you exercise? If so, what do you do? What is your work schedule like? After gaining a deeper understanding of you and what your life is like, we’ll move on to crafting realistic solutions together, so that changes you make feel sustainable. We’ll wrap up by deciding together how we want to track progress toward your goals and answering any questions you have about my services.

Education

I have my PhD in Nutritional Sciences and RD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and my MS and BS in Exercise and Health Science from Miami University (Ohio).

Hobbies

For fun I still run and compete in marathons and shorter local races. I also enjoy teaching fitness classes, cooking, trivia, DIY, going on hikes with my dogs, and watching documentaries.
