About Athira
Hello there! I’m Athira, a registered dietitian with a unique background in both nutrition and behavioral science. My clinical experience includes women’s health, PCOS, IBS, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight loss and bariatrics. Because of my background in counseling approaches like CBT, DBT, and ACT, I understand that food and health are not just about what’s on your plate, but they’re deeply connected to your thoughts, emotions, and daily habits. My approach blends science with compassion, guiding people to build sustainable habits that fit real life. Outside of work, I love practicing yoga, tending my garden, dancing, reading, and planning my next trip. I’m happy to support you as we explore your relationship with food and health together.
Approach to care
My approach is rooted in a holistic, non-diet philosophy that honors the connection between mind and body. I believe food is powerful but not punitive, and I meet you where you are with warmth and respect. Our work together is grounded in current science, but framed in a way that helps you feel capable and empowered to act. With me, you’ll gain more than just nutrition guidance but also receive tools for self-discovery, meal planning strategies, and compassionate support to help you thrive. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, navigating weight changes, or seeking a healthier relationship with food, I’m here as both a nutrition expert and partner in your journey. My practice is rooted in compassion and the belief that nutrition should be empowering as well as nurturing, not restrictive nor confusing. As a team, we’ll create a plan that’s realistic, evidence-based, and tailored just for you.
Your first session with Athira
Our first appointment is all about you. We’ll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics, establish short term goals, and take a deep dive into your relationship with food in a nonjudgmental space. You don’t need to have everything figured out yet, and there’s no pressure. I’ll walk with you every step, translating findings into clear, practical steps. I like to keep my sessions both fun and informative. By the end we’ll create a personalized meal plan and a realistic roadmap for your first weeks, with support you can rely on.
