About Austin
Hello! My name is Austin and health/wellness has been a large focus of my life for the past 10+ years. I grew up spending most of my time outdoors as well as playing sports, which has carried on into adulthood. I received my undergrad degree at the University of Illinois where I played football for four years before continuing to play one year in the NFL for multiple teams. I then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago to obtain my masters in Nutrition. Ever since I finished playing football, I have found other avenues to continue to stay active, compete, and integrate nutrition into athletics. I currently enjoy competing in ultraendurance sports and do anything from triathlons and marathons to 50+ mile trail races and Ironman races.
Approach to care
I am a dietitian that believes in taking a functional, holistic approach to solving health and wellness problems. What does that mean? It means that whatever your goals are (i.e. weight loss, improving metabolic health, relieving GI issues, suppressing autoimmune disorders, sports performance, etc.), nutrition/diet will be one aspect we focus on while simultaneously promoting other healthy lifestyle changes so that you can achieve lasting change that won't feel like work!
Your first session with Austin
I believe that for me to help you make the changes you would like and achieve your goals, it is important that we build a relationship that is deeper than just nutrition related topics. Due to this, in our first session we will have conversations that allow for me to learn about your daily life, interests, and routines and you will have the opportunity to learn about who I am as a person. With all of this knowledge, we will be able to find ways to implement nutritional interventions into your daily life that won't interfere with what you enjoy and what makes you who you are. By the end of our first session, you can expect to have a few starting goals that we will be able to assess by session two.
