About Ava
As a Registered Dietitian (RDN) and Director of Food and Nutrition Services, I bring a detail-oriented and compassionate approach to nourishing students and supporting a culture of wellness within the school community. I earned my Masterâs degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Pittsburgh and have specialized experience in pediatrics, womenâs health, disordered eating, and motivational interviewing. My passion lies in creating inclusive, balanced, and enjoyable food experiences for allâespecially those navigating food allergies and sensitivities, which I understand firsthand.
Approach to care
My philosophy centers on meeting individuals and communities where they are, providing education that empowers informed choices, and fostering a positive relationship with food. I believe that school meals are more than just nourishmentâthey are an opportunity to teach lifelong healthy habits, celebrate diversity, and bring joy to the table. While I take nutrition seriously, I also believe food should be enjoyedâice cream remains my favorite reminder that balance is key.
Your first session with Ava
Our first session will be getting to know each other and make sure you feel comfortable with me as your provider. I will dig into your past medical history, long-term nutrition goals, small goal setting for the next session. This session will include little nutrition education, but rather set the groundwork for our nutrition path as a team.
