About Bailey
I am a culinary dietitian, meaning I am both a registered dietitian and a trained chef! My passion is combining nutrition science with the culinary arts, and doing so in a joyful and practical manner that makes sense for the life of each individual client. Outside of my career in nutrition counseling I have worked in restaurant kitchens, taught cooking classes, developed recipes, and worked in food media and journalism. Each of these endeavors has provided me a unique lens to view food and relationship with food out of, and I enjoy weaving the perspectives found from each of these experiences into nutrition counseling sessions.
Approach to care
My approach to care is acting as a nutrition GPS. I believe that my role as a dietitian is to serve as a voice of evidence-based nutrition guidance and thoughtful counsel. However, as a client, you are the driver in charge and ultimately decide your preferred direction. As a culinary dietitian I deeply believe in pursuing health goals with joy and satisfaction in the eating experience in mind. I counsel from an Intuitive Eating framework, and operate out of a weight neutral approach. Expect working together to provide lots of encouragement, and frequent repetition of the silly but true rhyme "let's get curious instead of furious."
Your first session with Bailey
My first sessions center around relationship building, getting your nutrition-related puzzle pieces out on the table, and engaging in vision planning to build a foundation for future sessions. Expect our first session to be like catching up over coffee or tea. I am all ears our first session to learn about who you are, and I want you to feel comfortable to discuss and disclose as much as you are comfortable with me knowing in a first meeting. I want to hear about what your interests are in working with a dietitian, what you want to work towards with your nutrition, and anything about your daily life or history that currently is impacting your nutrition. I am also happy to share relevant details you would like to know about me as a provider to help you feel most comfortable, and assess if I am the right fit for working with you.
