About Bridget
She was born in New Mexico and attended NMSU and earned her Animal Science Degree. While taking advanced Animal Nutrition, she realized that nutrition was her passion. She then continued her education at University of Maryland and earned her second undergraduate degree in Dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship in Maryland and started her career at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. While at JHBMC, she worked in a variety of medical settings, including Neuro ICU, Cardiac ICU, Cardiac Rehab, Labor and Delivery and Long Term Care/Geriatrics. After earning the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management, she then joined the Bariatric team and worked at the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center. Bridget married into an Army family, which then took her to Hawaii followed by Colorado, which is where she resides today.
Approach to care
Bridget’s approach is simple. She will work with you to come up with a plan that is right for you based on your medical concerns/conditions, goals and lifestyle. Sometimes the hardest thing is not knowing WHAT to do, but HOW to implement healthy changes. As a busy mom, recovering from a back injury and knee replacement, she has a unique understanding of how hard it can be to stay focused, eat right and exercise. Bridget has had many opportunities in her field of 25+ years and has seen first hand how important good nutrition is for health and longevity.
Your first session with Bridget
This is an opportunity for Bridget to get to know her client. You will be doing most of the talking. ;o) She works with you to help you reach your goals and answer your questions. Bridget finds it frustrating when a provider is not listening to her or skims over her concerns. She will make a real effort to not do this with her patients. This will be a partnership to help you become a healthier person through realistic and attainable changes.
