About Caren
Caren has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for 5 years. She has a lot of experience working in the clinical setting, both in the hospital and outpatient offices. She earned her Board-Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and her Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) through the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification. She became a dietitian because her mom was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes when she was in High School. She became invested in nutrition research to help her control her blood sugar levels and interested in pursuing a career that could also prevent the onset of such diseases.
Approach to care
Caren's goal is to help her patients control their disease and symptoms in order to prevent disease progression. She is the missing piece between the nutrition education possibly received during hospitalizations and being sent home without any follow up. Caren specializes in providing medical nutrition therapy in a wide variety of diseases including diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, and many other gastrointestinal disorders such as GERD, IBS, and IBD.
