About Carina

I’m a pediatric and adult dietitian and researcher with over 20 years of experience supporting babies, children, and adults with food allergies, eczema, picky eating, feeding challenges, and nutrition strategies that support the skin, gut microbiome, and immune system, an area known as immunonutrition. I’ve worked in South Africa, the UK, and the U.S., and have published widely on food allergy and early feeding. I’ve also contributed to international guidelines and practical tools used by families and clinicians around the world, including the milk and egg ladders. My passion is helping families feel confident, supported, and empowered as they navigate nutrition, feeding, and food allergies.

Approach to care

My approach is warm, practical, and grounded in evidence. I take the time to understand your or your child’s medical history, eating patterns, and your family’s daily routines so we can create a plan that truly fits your life. I translate complex allergy and nutrition science into clear, manageable steps, always prioritizing safety, confidence, and enjoyment of food. Whether we’re navigating food allergy management, oral immunotherapy, milk or egg ladders, introducing new foods, expanding diet variety, or supporting healthy growth, you can expect clear guidance, and steady encouragement throughout our work together.

Your first session with Carina

During our first visit, we’ll walk through your or your child’s health history, allergy or feeding concerns, and any challenges you’re experiencing at home or work. I’ll review the current diet, growth or height and weight, symptoms, and patterns, and make sure all your questions are answered. Together, we’ll create a personalized, easy-to-follow plan, whether that involves safely introducing allergens, improving nutrition, addressing eczema-related nutrition needs, or supporting healthier eating habits for optimal gut and immune health. You’ll leave the session with practical steps you can begin right away and a clear sense of how we’ll continue working together.
