About Carisa

Hi, I'm Carisa. With over 25 years of experience in nutrition, I have worked in a variety of setting, including inpatient, outpatient, dialysis, and long-term care. My expertise covers a wide range of topics, such as general nutrition, weight management—whether you are looking to lose or gain weight—and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, including kidney disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. As a busy wife and mother of children who have been involved with travel sports, I understand firsthand the importance of finding a balanced approach to health and wellness.

Approach to care

I am committed to helping you become a healthier version of yourself. My clinical approach is centered on delivering high-quality, research-based nutrition care in a way that is easy to understand and practical for your everyday life. Each plan is tailored to your individual needs and goals. We will begin by meeting you where you are, then set realistic and achievable goals to support your journey toward better health. Throughout the process, I will work alongside you to ensure you feel supported and empowered to take control of your wellness.

Your first session with Carisa

The first session is focused entirely on you. We will spend time getting to know you and understanding your unique journey. This begins with a comprehensive nutrition assessment, where we will discuss your medical history, prescription medications, supplement use, lab results, food allergies, and—most importantly—your current habits, including eating, sleep, hydration, and exercise. We will also talk about what you have tried in the past, what has worked, what has not, and, together, we will create a personalized plan with realistic goals to help you move forward. The goal of this session is to get to know you and lay the foundation for your plan. In future follow-up sessions, I will check your progress, suggest small changes, share helpful tips, and provide ongoing support to keep you on track.
