About Carissa

Hi, I’m Carissa, a registered dietitian who supports children, teens, and adults through every stage of their nutrition journey. I help patients with pediatric nutrition needs, weight changes, tube feeding or TPN, women’s health concerns, and general health goals. My approach is compassionate, patient-centered, and focused on finding what truly works for your body and lifestyle. My background includes neonatal, pediatric, and cardiac ICU experience, plus general pediatrics and complex medical care. I understand how stressful feeding plans, growth concerns, and medical challenges can be, and I’m here to provide clarity and confidence. I also bring a strong clinical foundation for adults, including maternal health research. Whether you’re navigating postpartum changes, hormones, digestion, or weight goals, I offer realistic strategies and flexible guidance. I’ll meet you where you are and help you build sustainable habits with support every step of the way.

Approach to care

My approach to care is compassionate, patient-centered, and highly individualized. I focus on meeting you exactly where you are — without judgment, pressure, or unrealistic expectations. I blend evidence-based nutrition with a supportive, real-world approach. That means I take the time to understand your goals, your lifestyle, and what feels realistic for you. We move at a pace that feels comfortable, and I break down complex nutrition information into steps that are easy to follow.

Your first session with Carissa

Your first session is all about understanding you. We’ll take a detailed look at your goals, your health history, your current habits, and any challenges you’ve been experiencing. I’ll ask about things like your day-to-day routines, symptoms, feeding patterns (for pediatric patients), medications, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. From there, we’ll work together to define clear, achievable goals and outline a personalized plan that aligns with your medical needs, lifestyle, and comfort level. I always make space for your questions, concerns, and priorities so you leave feeling heard and supported — not overwhelmed. My goal is for you to finish that first session feeling understood, motivated, and hopeful about your next steps.
