About Carly

I first became interested in learning about the body while studying Exercise and Movement Science at the University of Vermont. I then had a yearning to learn more about how we fuel the body and went on to earn an MS in Nutrition from Tufts University in Boston. For the past five years and still today, I work in a hospital setting where I support people managing diabetes and other complex needs, and that clinical experience shapes how I problem-solve with patients. As an RD and CDCES I bring science-based care into real life. When I'm not working in Portland you'll likely find me skiing, biking, practicing yoga, hiking, reading, exploring new places, or testing recipes in the kitchen.

Approach to care

I focus on creating realistic, long-lasting habits that reduce stress around food. Grounded in current research, I translate evidence into practical steps we'll try together, keeping goals clear and achievable. My work is weight-neutral and whole-person oriented, attending to emotional, physical, and lifestyle factors. I aim to be warm and nonjudgmental while also being direct and action-oriented, teaching skills so you gain confidence to manage changes sustainably.

Your first session with Carly

During the initial visit we'll review your medical history and current medications, and talk about how diabetes or other health concerns fit into your day-to-day life. This is a calm, judgment-free conversation, and you don't need to have everything figured out beforehand. Together we'll identify one or two short-term goals that feel manageable, and outline simple, practical steps to try between visits so you leave with clarity and a realistic plan.
