About Catherine

I’m Catherine Amereihn, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with an interest in holistic care. I graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from Virginia Tech and minored in Leadership and Social Change. I went on to earn my Master of Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of South Florida where I also completed my dietetic internship. I understand there is a deep hidden connection between our physical, mental, and spiritual health. Whether you’re looking to lose, gain, or maintain weight, figuring out how to meal plan, trying to fix your relationship with food and find joy in eating, simply seeking out a healthier lifestyle, or want to invite God into your eating space, I’m here to guide you. Outside of nutrition, I’m involved in my local church, reading my bible, training for half marathons, walking my dog, spending time at the beach, trying new recipes, and learning new crafts.

Approach to care

Food, movement, mind, and spirit all influence health, and we’ll take a whole-person view as we work together. From my public health background, I look through a whole systems focused lens on overall health as I rely on evidence based practices and understand there are several determinants of health as well as recognize the power of the mind. I want to help you identify barriers to your nutrition goals and guide you along to implement sustainable and simple changes to lead you towards feeling confident in your health habits. And if you so wish, we can take a faith based approach to invite God into the space and listen to what He says. I practice from a compassionate standpoint and I want to support you and be your cheerleader while also being a resource for your concerns and fight the doubts that may cloud your thoughts. I want to understand your why so we can make meaningful change.

Your first session with Catherine

For our first session, it will be a time of relaxed conversation so I can get to know you and your story. I want you to tell me about your daily life and present your goals for working with me. I don’t expect you to have everything figured out because this is what our time together is for as we talk through your concerns, questions, frustrations, what works now, and what you hope for we we can explore what you need now. We’ll develop a few short manageable goals as change often comes in the form of small strategic steps that leads to bigger change over time. I come as a gentle guide to bring clinical advice, spiritual encouragement, and new perspectives.
