About Cheryl
I have over 25 years of experience working as a registered dietitian, providing outpatient care to patients with a variety of diagnoses. I also have a culinary degree and have taught cooking classes in the past for children and adults. I also refer to myself as an education junky, as I am working on a post-graduate certificate in Eating Disorders and Obesity at Northern Illinois University, and also towards a Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. I genuinely enjoy working as a registered dietitian and diabetes educator to support individuals in living their full potential with the best quality of life. My goal is to help individuals not be afraid of food or eating, but to embrace and enjoy quality foods that will best meet their needs and nourish their bodies.
Approach to care
I develop a partnership with individuals to encourage a lifestyle of healthy eating patterns, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and other positive health behaviors that are vital tools for optimizing health and preventing and/or managing disease. My goal is to identify an individual’s areas of focus, collaborate to introduce strategies that help them move towards their goals, and work through barriers to deliver long-term health outcomes through sustainable behavior change. I will work to be your biggest cheerleader on your journey towards whatever your health goals may be.
Your first session with Cheryl
Our first session will focus on a holistic and whole-person approach to care. During our time together, we’ll discuss your goals, medical history, lab results, eating and movement patterns, sleep quality, and stress levels, as each of these plays a key role in your overall well-being. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions, share your past experiences, and discuss any challenges you’ve faced in your health and wellness journey. My goal is that by the end of your first session, you will feel truly heard and supported in a safe, non-judgmental space. Together, we’ll set realistic, actionable steps that you can start implementing when you are ready, empowering you as we take this journey together.
