About Clancy
Hi there! Iβve been a Registered Dietitian since 2018 and have worked in both pediatrics & adults. I have extensive experience working with premature & full term infants, malnutrition and poor growth, starting solids with your baby, picky eating, prenatal nutrition, gastrointestinal health (specifically inflammatory bowel disease), enteral nutrition support, general health & wellness, chronic disease prevention, the psychology of behavior change, iron deficiency anemia, and cystic fibrosis. I am passionate about meeting patients & families where they are. Every patient & family is different, and there are no hard-and-fast rules about "how" you have to change or what your goals "should" be.
Approach to care
I practice with a person-first, patient-centered (or family-centered) approach to care. This means that I honor & preserve your autonomy & dignity as the patient in both the language I use & the recommendations I make. I flip the "expert" model on its head: YOU are the expert in your life, while I am the trained professional here to provide you with guidance, advice, & recommendations. But it is up to US, as partners, to co-create a plan for you or your family that will accomplish your goals in a way that fits into your life. I do not subscribe to any particular health dogma, and I remain flexible in the way I approach each patient or family's unique set of circumstances.
Your first session with Clancy
Our first session will include time to get to know each other and time to review your goals for our work together. I will want to review your medical history and any other pertinent health information (including weight and growth history for pediatric patients). We will begin to envision a plan for our work together going forward, and you are likely to leave with some action items to get the ball rolling before our next session. Patients seeing me for malnutrition and poor growth can expect to leave with immediate plans for the arrest of weight loss before our next appointment.
