Approach to care
My approach is grounded in a focus on progress, not immediate perfection. I strive to not only educate, but to empower individuals to clarify what it is they want or need to work on with their nutrition intake as it plays a powerful role in our quality of life- both now and as we age. I enforce a positive approach where "there is no failure, there is only feedback" as we work together to address barriers, brainstorm ideas that work for that individual, and refine goals as needed. I am here to support and encourage each individual in meeting their goals, using evidence-based strategies to help them progressively move towards their health goals to improve their quality of life.
Your first session with Debra
In our first session, we will have a chance to get to know each other a little better. We will focus on understanding where you are in your journey to improve health and overall wellbeing. I will take time to understand what your goals and priorities are in improving your health by working with a dietitian. I will help you understand the Nourish program, how Nourish can help you in this journey, and answer any initial questions. Then we will start with a review of your medical and objective data, your current lifestyle habits, your current dietary patterns, and also your sleep, exercise, and work patterns to gather needed information to assess where you currently are and identify areas to work on based on your goals. By the end of the appointment, the goal is to create 2-3 specific action steps to take that are achievable (from your perspective), so you can begin to take the first steps of progress towards your goals. We then will set follow-up meetings for support and feedback.
