About Denice
Denice began the first 13 years of her career at the University of California San Diego where she worked in clinical trials studying the affects of nutrition and the role it plays in breast cancer prevention, prostate and colon cancer treatment. Denice has worked in both intensive outpatient and residential treatment of eating disorders, cardiac rehab, and is currently a clinical trials dietitian implementing the nutrition protocols for Eli Lilly across their GLP-1 pharmaceuticals. With over 21 years of experience, she enjoys teaching other students as an adjunct professor in cultural and community nutrition, eight of these years has been spent in rural healthcare where resources are limited and dietitians and patients have to remain creative! As a mom of two boys and three rescue dogs, she understands the demands of daily life and is able to support others in managing their health goals. Denice is a native Spanish speaker and is a certified dual language medical interpreter.
Approach to care
Perform a thorough understanding of your daily life, your time constraints, and your goals. Collaboratively come up with daily, weekly and monthly goals that are practical yet efficient to help you stay motivated and committed throughout this journey; ultimately improving your health outcomes!
Your first session with Denice
We're going to get to know each other! We will go over any recent lab work, discuss your eating behaviors, food intake, sleep habits, and current physical activity levels. You can expect to learn WHY specific nutrition and behavior recommendations are made. We will learn WHAT to look for on a nutrition label; and HOW to implement our agreed upon goals, finally we will decide WHEN to follow-up again.
