About Denise
I became interested in nutrition when my children were babies, which led me to return to school midlife to earn my degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. My previous degree in Chemistry was an excellent foundation for Dietetics. I bring three years of experience as a registered dietitian, working in the public health program WIC, then in a long-term care and rehab facility (nursing home). As a registered and licensed dietitian, I especially enjoy supporting moms and kids, drawing on my own experience as a mother of grown children. Outside the clinic you'll often find me cooking, sprouting and fermenting, learning about food systems, or drumming on my djembe.
Approach to care
I ground recommendations in current research, while keeping the whole person in view. I'm lifestyle focused (no dieting), so we'll work on behaviors that fit your life so that changes are step wise and lasting. My style is warm and nonjudgmental, and I'm direct about clear, manageable steps we can try together. Education is central to my work, so I'll explain the evidence and help you build skills to make long-term changes that feel realistic and empowering.
Your first session with Denise
Expect a relaxed, low-pressure visit where we'll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics you bring. I'll ask about routines, food realities at home, and past attempts so we can understand what helps and what gets in the way. Together we'll identify one clear focus to work on until our next appointment, so you leave with a practical, evidence-based step. You don't need to have it all figured out, I'm here to support, educate, and adapt with you.
