About Dennie

I’m Dennie, known as The Lawyering Dietitian, one of the nation’s few professionals dually credentialed as both an Attorney and a Registered Dietitian. Additionally, I am a certified Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA, a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Coach through NASM. I graduated as Valedictorian from Clark Atlanta University in 2010 and earned my Juris Doctor from Northwestern Law in 2014. I hold law licenses in Illinois, New York, and New Jersey. Driven by a passion for nutrition and wellness, I pursued a degree in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition, completing it in 2022. My dietetic internship focused on nutrition policy and advocacy, including Capitol Hill lobbying. My unique combination of legal and nutritional expertise, as well as my fitness certifications enables me to offer a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, emphasizing evidence-based dietary guidance, informed advocacy, and practical fitness strategies.

Approach to care

As both a Registered Dietitian and an Attorney, I bring a well-rounded perspective to nutrition counseling, emphasizing evidence-based guidance, accessibility, and client advocacy. I believe that food connects us—not only to our health but also to our culture, communities, and personal experiences. My approach is rooted in understanding each client’s unique needs, empowering them with knowledge, and creating realistic, sustainable strategies for long-term wellness. I take a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach, incorporating principles of intuitive eating to help clients build a healthier relationship with food, free from guilt and restriction. Whether you are navigating medical nutrition therapy, weight concerns, or simply seeking balance, I am here to support you with compassion, education, and a personalized approach to care.

Your first session with Dennie

In our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and discuss your health history, lifestyle, and nutrition goals. I’ll ask questions to understand your current eating habits, medical background, and any challenges you may be facing. My approach is collaborative, meaning we’ll work together to create a plan that feels realistic and sustainable for you. You won’t receive a one-size-fits-all meal plan or strict rules—instead, we’ll focus on building a balanced, flexible approach to nutrition that aligns with your needs and preferences. Whether you’re looking for support with medical nutrition therapy, intuitive eating, or general wellness, this session is about setting the foundation for your success. Come as you are, and feel free to bring any questions! No question is too small or "dumb".
