About Devon
Devon is an Illinois-based registered dietitian who holds a Masters degree in dietetics from Eastern Michigan University. Devon has been a dietitian for over 8 years, with a background in hospital-based clinical nutrition and outpatient nutrition therapy for people with heart disease. Devon has experience with a wide range of nutritional concerns, including heart health, weight management, type 2 diabetes, gastrointestinal nutrition (especially pancreatitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease [GERD], and diverticulitis), and nutrition for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition care is to compassionately meet you where you are and create a personalized roadmap to help you get to where you'd like to be. We will work together to help you make eating behavior changes that feel doable and sustainable so that you can achieve your goals and maintain them. I have advanced training in counseling methods for eating behavior change and will help you learn both what to change and how to change in a way that feels less overwhelming and more achievable.
Your first session with Devon
Our first session will be a detailed assessment, where I'll take the time to get to know you and find out where you'd like to see your health in the future, your current medical history, what you have tried before, what challenges you've experienced with changing your eating behaviors, and more about your lifestyle. With that information, I'll be able to create a personalized plan for you to help you meet your goals, and I'll explain to you how I will support you along the way. You'll leave the session with 1-2 things to work on until our next session, where we'll go through the plan in more detail. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you with reaching your health goals!
