About Elina
Hello! and thanks for stopping in to learn about me. I have been a registered dietitian since 2002. I am a clinical dietitian who works with people of all ages and backgrounds including neonatal nutrition (premature infants), pediatrics (including eating disorder and enteral nutrition, diabetes), adult critical care, recovery from trauma, strokes, cardiac disease, gastrointestinal/ liver/ pancreatitis, alcoholism, malnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies are some of my special practice areas. My other passions include metal/machine/and motorsports and I studied autobody and autotech and became a racecar driver in a car that I restored to race! I also love animals and have been learning to train my pet dogs, recently having rescued a Belgian Malinois so you can expect to hear more about her and my other pets in some of our sessions.
Approach to care
I connect with my clients and patients in a genuine and meaningful way. I listen and observe before making a nutrition assessment. One of my most valuable tools that I use is the Nutrition focused physical exam, this can be done in the virtual space. Information from the nutrition focused exam can be used to make nutrition diagnosis and uncover mysteries that were previously unidentified or missed. My approach is to offer clear explanations, not just blanket recommendations for nutrition concerns.
Your first session with Elina
You can feel comfortable sharing nutrition and health concerns during your first session and any session in a judgment free zone. You can expect me to be very thorough and yet very efficient during our initial interview and assessment. You can expect to laugh and to have a good time during our first session. If you are crying, you can expect me to cry with you, too! You can expect me to identify and explore nutrition concerns with confidence and ease as we start to work on developing an effective plan. I commonly hear this from my patients at the end of a session "Wow, no one has ever explained that to me before, thank you, now I understand and I feel so much better, I'm not scared anymore, I feel so much better and know what to do now!"
