About Elizabeth
Hi! My name is Liz and I am a dietitian in Portland, OR. I grew up in central Iowa and went to school at Iowa State University. I moved to Oregon for my dietetic internship and I love it here. The mountains, oceans and variety of foods and parks to explore has been a blast. I have been working primarily in a hospital for the last 4 years of my career. I work with our aging population as well as a variety of medical diagnoses, including diabetes, liver, kidney and heart disease. I also have a lot of experience working with nutrition support (tube feed and TPN) and their needs. In addition to working in the hospital, I have spent time in pediatrics. I love working with infants, toddlers, and school aged children working on picky eating, a healthier lifestyle, gaining weight, or kiddos with autism, ADHD and ARFID. I am also familiar and comfortable with discussing the needs of infants and supporting families with eating through the first year of life. I can't wait to work together!
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition is having a deep understanding of my patients lives and what matters to them most. I'd love to know about your day to day life, what you have access to, what's been successful in the past, what are your biggest challenges and anything about your story that will help us to reach your goals. My hope is always that we can work together as a team to find paths that feel approachable and reasonable. We'll start with small intentions and habits and work our way to long lasting change.
Your first session with Elizabeth
First session you can expect that I will ask you a lot of questions! We will go over what your goals and objectives are and start with what a usual day of eating and movement looks like for you. I'll want to learn about what sort of experiences you've had with food, dietitians and counseling in the past - things that have gone well and things that haven't worked out! Then we'll build a plan and start brainstorming small goals to start with that will help us to reach whatever your ultimate goal is.
