About Emily
Hi! I’m Emily Sokoloff, a registered dietitian and Pacific Northwest native currently based in Seattle. I have several years of experience in nutrition counseling for a broad range of conditions, including diabetes and prediabetes, weight management, heart disease, cancer, liver and kidney conditions, GI disorders, and more. I’ve completed advanced training in diabetes care and am passionate about helping clients reach their blood sugar management targets and improve overall health. I use evidence-based nutrition interventions to help clients build lasting healthy habits without sacrificing their enjoyment of food.
Approach to care
I take a holistic approach to nutrition because I know that all aspects of our health - physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing - are interconnected. We eat not just for nourishment but for enjoyment, social connection, and to celebrate cultural identity. You know your body best. I want to help you to find a balanced way of eating that aligns with your long-term health goals as well as your lifestyle. Instead of cutting foods out, we’ll focus on adding nutrient-rich options in to improve your health. I will help you develop practical skills like planning balanced meals and healthy food preparation methods. Making lifestyle changes can be challenging, but I will be here to support you with compassion and evidence-based guidance every step of the way.
Your first session with Emily
During our first session, we will get to know each other. No need to prepare anything, but feel free to bring a medication list, any recent lab work, or a food diary if you have one. I’ll ask you about your nutrition goals/concerns, lifestyle, food preferences, current eating and exercise habits, and relevant health history, and I will share more about myself and my approach. You can expect a very relaxed session with no pressure and no judgment. We will come up with a couple small, realistic goals you would like to start working towards and I will provide you with some nutrition education and strategies to try implementing before our next session.
