About Gretchen
Hello, my name is Gretchen. I'm a Registered Dietitian with 25 years of experience, based in Newport Beach, California. I earned my BS in Nutrition Sciences from CSULB and have practiced in private practice, in-center hospitalization eating disorder treatment, dialysis clinic, as well as clinical/hospital settings that included psychiatric treatment. My postnominals include RDN and CEDS, reflecting my commitment to rigorous science and to supporting people with a myriad of nutrition related concerns. Outside of work, I love running, boxing, swimming, and curling up with a good movie, book, or audiobook. In a world saturated with conflicting messages across media platforms, I consider it a privilege to guide people toward improved physical and mental health outcomes. By cutting through diet culture myths and misinformation, I strive to address root causes and provide evidence-based guidance grounded in clarity and truth.
Approach to care
My care philosophy blends science with warmth. I believe food should nourish life without shame, and I approach health from a Health At Every Size lens that centers your goals and wellbeing. My practice is evidence-based and action-oriented: we'll translate current research into clear steps, track progress, and adjust as needed. I'm empathetic and direct, helping you identify practical changes you can sustain. We consider your whole life, sleep, stress, activity, cravings, and I'll educate you so you can make informed decisions on your own. Lasting change matters more than quick fixes. My philosophy stems from the belief that it took a while to get here, it may take a minute to get out but so much growth and wonderful comes with this journey.
Your first session with Gretchen
Our first appointment is a conversation, not a test. We'll start by exploring your relationship with food, your goals, and what brought you here. I won't judge your experiences or rush you to a plan. We'll ask thoughtful questions, listen deeply, and together build a realistic roadmap you can actually follow. You don't need to have it all figured out before we meet; come as you are. In fact, that may be the most important thing to remember, please come as you are. By the end, you'll have one or two clear, personalized goals and a sense of the next steps we'll take on your journey.
