About Gustavo

***Please note I don't have any appointment slots available till September. Sorry for the inconvenience. You may want to seek another dietitian/diabetes educator or wait to make an appointment to see me in September.*** I am passionate about my work as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES), and bring over 25 years of experience to the field. Additionally, I held a certification as an exercise physiologist for 10 years. Having grown up in various countries, I have developed a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and customs, which enriches my practice. I feel fortunate to be a native speaker in Spanish, and have a decent command of Portuguese and Cantonese.

Approach to care

• Client-Centered Care: Understanding your unique situation and preferences is crucial. This personalized approach helps build trust and interactions. • Mindfulness and Non-Judgment: Creating a safe space for you to discuss challenges without concern about judgment can foster open communication and allows for more honest discussions. • Evidence-Based Recommendations: Providing sound, research-backed advice ensures that you receive reliable information, which can enhance confidence in making health-related decisions. • Small, Sustainable Changes: Making gradual changes rather than overwhelming you with drastic changes can lead to more sustainable habits and long-term success. • Collaborative Goal Setting: Working together to set realistic and achievable goals can empower you and can make you more likely to take actions. • Ongoing Support and Encouragement: Regular check-ins and support can help you stay motivated and adjust your plans as needed, reinforcing progress and commitment.
