About Hope
Hi! I'm a dietitian from Oklahoma, currently living on the east coast. Growing up, I spent several years in Southeast Asia which fostered a love of delicious food and led me to becoming a dietitian. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a master's degree in dietetics, I worked at a clinic for diabetes management where I was able to teach about food and lifestyle to improve blood sugar management, including the starting of insulin pumps and using CGM data. I also have experience as an eating disorder dietitian in both in-patient (acute, residential, and partial) and out-patient settings. Since starting as a dietitian, I've loved getting to spread the joy that can come from a healthy relationship with food and body.
Approach to care
Making changes in life can be difficult, so I work to understand where you are coming from and help you make changes that are realistic in your life. I strive to provide nutrition education based on individual needs and questions, while using a use a non-diet approach with the motto all foods fit. As a health care professional, I both challenge individuals to grow towards health goals and maintain compassion in the hard work they're doing.
Your first session with Hope
In the first session, the majority of the time will be spent asking several questions - I want to get to know you, know what your history with food and health has been, and know your goals so we can be working towards them together. By the end of the session, we will set a few long and short-term nutrition related goals with a plan of how to achieve them.
