About Ilana

Hello! My name is Ilana Kersch, and I'm a Registered Dietitian with over 12 years of experience in clinical nutrition counseling. I specialize in all things gut health, and I'm passionate about providing my patients with the very best in GI symptom management and personalized nutrition for the management of chronic diseases. I completed my Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics at New York University, and spent much of my career practicing at both Mount Sinai Hospital and New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Hospital, where I provided extensive nutritional care in intensive-care hospital settings, clinical environments, and via telehealth services.

Approach to care

I know first-hand how much conflicting and confusing nutrition advice there is out there, especially when it comes to gut health and fighting inflammation. I'm here to help you cut through the nonsense and find evidence-based solutions that actually improve your symptoms and quality of life. My practice is based on working together to make small, sustainable changes at your pace—while checking in every step of the way to understand exactly what's working for you, what can be improved or changed over time, and together, finding the best nutritional practices for your unique dietary needs.

Your first session with Ilana

I like to spend our first session getting to know each other and asking lots of questions so that I have as much information as possible to help you make the most helpful and effective nutrition choices. I like to ask about your full health background including medical and surgical history, medications and diets/ nutrition plans that you have already tried and how they worked for you, your food and cooking preferences, any past experiences with nutrition professionals, and any other details that you'd like to share.
