About Jacob

Hi, I’m Jacob, a Registered Dietitian based in Detroit. I earned my MS in Dietetics from Wayne State University and have two years of experience across clinical and hospital settings, community health, and research/academia. I approach nutrition with curiosity and care, guided by Health At Every Size principles and a commitment to practical, everyday health. Outside of work, I love cooking and baking, hitting the gym, going to concerts, playing music, hiking, camping, and tending my garden. I’m passionate about gender inclusive care and have experience supporting the LGBTQ+ community. In graduate school, I studied the links between nutrition and Substance Use Disorders. I meet people where they are and want to help you become the best version of yourself.

Approach to care

My care philosophy centers on being evidence based, empathetic, and educational, while keeping you at the heart of every decision. I use current research to inform practical steps and avoid quick fixes. We’ll work as a team, with clear actions and accountability, and I’ll meet you with warmth and a nonjudgmental stance. I practice Health At Every Size, focusing on behavior and wellbeing rather than a number on the scale. I view you holistically, considering mental health, sleep, stress, and social factors, and I share knowledge so you can make informed choices that last.

Your first session with Jacob

Our first appointment is a warm, collaborative conversation focused on you. We'll start by reviewing your medical history and current health concerns, then establish short-term goals together. We'll take a deep dive into your relationship with food, what has worked, what hasn’t, and what you hope to change. You don’t need to have it all figured out; this is a judgment-free space where we move at a pace that feels doable. By the end, we’ll have 1 or 2 clear steps to start with and a plan you can actually follow.
