Patient reviews

  • She is literally saving my life! My blood work showed I had pre-diabetes, I was over weight I was diagnosed with a large cyst on my ovaries and had an irregular cycle for more than a year. My gynecologist was able to take care of the cyst with hormones. However, Jamel taught me how to eat and I have lost almost 15 lbs with her help. In addition, my cycles are back on track and I feel like myself again. She is compassionate and very knowledgeable.

About Jamel

Hi, I'm Jamel, a Registered Dietitian with 18 years of experience. I earned my MS in Nutrition and my BS in Dietetics and Nutrition, and I hold credentials RDN, and LD. My career spans clinical and hospital settings, private practice, and community health, which gives me a practical, real-world view of how nutrition shows up in daily life. Outside of work, I love long walks, rowing, cooking, weight lifting, jump rope, listening to podcasts, and working with my hands. I’m grateful you’re here, and I’m committed to a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach that meets you where you are. I aim to equip you with durable skills from day one so you feel confident navigating life's choices.

Approach to care

My care philosophy centers on evidence-based, holistic, and empathetic collaboration. I believe in science-based guidance that respects your lived experience and goals. We’ll work together to translate research into practical steps you can actually follow, with clear actions, accountability, and bite-sized milestones. I practice with a weight-neutral lens that aligns with Health at Every Size, focusing on behaviors, habits, and wellbeing rather than a number on the scale. You deserve a sustainable path, informed by education and your values, so long-term change feels possible and normal.

Your first session with Jamel

Our first appointment is about you and your story. We'll review your medical history, explore your relationship with food, and talk through motivation and where you are on the spectrum of change. This is a foundation-building, no-pressure conversation, designed to be collaborative rather than clinical. I’ll explain how I work, what our sessions will look like, and how we can set a couple of practical goals you can start on right away. You don’t need to have it all figured out; you’ll leave with a clear sense of direction and the confidence to begin.
