About James

Hi, I'm James, a Registered Dietitian with two years of experience helping people build healthier, more sustainable relationships with food. I earned an MS in Nutrition from Arizona State University, and I completed a dual-degree program in Nutrition (SFSU) and Kinesiology (CSU East Bay). My work spans clinical and hospital settings, sports nutrition, community health, bariatric and personal nutrition counseling, and pediatric and diabetes education. When I am not in the clinic, you will likely find me hiking, playing video games, lifting, reading, or practicing spiritual meditation. I bring warmth, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to every appointment.

Approach to care

My care philosophy centers on Health At Every Size, a holistic, empathetic approach and a partnership built on trust. I base my guidance on current evidence while marrying it to your life, values, and preferences. We'll set practical, action oriented steps and track progress with kindness, not judgments. I believe in long-term change over quick fixes, and I will help you build sustainable habits across eating, sleep, stress, and movement. Education is a core part of our work so you can make informed decisions that fit you.

Your first session with James

Our first appointment is a warm, welcoming conversation designed to put you at ease. Our time together will include reviewing lab work or biometrics, your medical history, and a deep dive into your relationship with food. We'll establish one or two short-term goals and discuss sleep quality, stress management, and movement preparation. No pressure and no judgment, just collaborative planning to fit your life and support lasting change. You do not need to have everything figured out yet; you can show up as you are.
