About Jamie
My name is Jamie Diaz, and I’m a Registered Dietitian dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally informed nutrition care. As someone from Guam, I’m passionate about creating space for Pacific Islander voices in dietetics and helping individuals feel seen, respected, and supported on their health journey—no matter their background. I believe nutrition should be realistic, enjoyable, and tailored to each person’s unique lifestyle and culture. Whether you're working toward a specific health goal, navigating a new diagnosis, or simply wanting to feel better in your everyday life, I’m here to guide you with empathy and evidence-based support. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors and staying connected with my islander community through cultural events and activities. I look forward to partnering with you in a way that feels empowering, inclusive, and truly personalized!
Approach to care
I strive to be supportive, empathetic, and empowering. I focus on building authentic, trust-based relationships where people feel seen, heard, and valued. I draw from my experiences navigating academia and professional settings as a first-generation college student and Pacific Islander, which helps me relate to others who may feel underrepresented or unsure of their path. I believe in meeting people where they are and guiding them with both compassion and accountability. Three essential principles I implement in my approach to care are: Active Listening – creating space for honest dialogue and truly understanding each person's goals, challenges, and identity. Empowerment Through Reflection – encouraging mentees to reflect on their strengths and growth areas to build self-awareness and confidence. Culturally Responsive Guidance – recognizing the importance of cultural background and personal context in shaping each mentee’s journey, and tailoring support accordingly.
Your first session with Jamie
During our time together, we will: Discuss your goals and what you hope to accomplish through nutrition counseling. Review your health history, daily routines, and any current challenges you’re facing with food or wellness. Explore your relationship with food in a supportive, judgment-free way. Identify what’s working and what isn’t, so we can build a plan that feels realistic and meaningful for you. Begin shaping a personalized roadmap that aligns with your culture, preferences, and priorities. My approach is collaborative—I listen first, then guide. You won’t receive strict rules or overwhelm; instead, you’ll leave with clear next steps, practical strategies, and the confidence that you have someone in your corner!
