About Jamie

My name is Jamie Plodzik, MS, RD, LD. I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist specializing in eating disorders and disordered eating, sports nutrition, and pediatric/adolescent nutrition. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise (2022) and an M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics (2023). I have over a decade of experience mentoring and working with RDs across different fields of dietetics and levels of care. My background includes working as a gym dietitian for VIDA Fitness in Washington, D.C., serving as lead RD at an eating disorder PHP/IOP facility in Alexandria, VA, and providing outpatient nutrition counseling in private practice. I am a dedicated clinician who values patient-centered care and collaboration with other providers. Outside of work, I enjoy coffee shops, volleyball, weightlifting, cooking, spending time outdoors, and hanging with my cats, Maeve and Loretta.

Approach to care

I take a HAES-aligned approach to care and integrate principles of intuitive eating and gentle nutrition into my counseling. My style is warm, lighthearted, and empathetic, while also grounded in clear and direct communication. I enjoy supporting patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to older adults, with a particular passion for working with adolescents and young adults. As a neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clinician, I strive to make my nutrition care both neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQ-affirming, ensuring that sessions feel open, safe, and collaborative. I also value working with patients who are ready to engage in meaningful behavior change. I don’t expect anyone to navigate this process alone—my role is to guide, support, and collaborate on goals, plans, and next steps, while working through barriers and celebrating wins along the way.

Your first session with Jamie

In our first session, we’ll start with gentle introductions before moving into intake questions and treatment planning. I’ll ask a range of questions to understand your medical history, food behaviors and beliefs, motivations, barriers, and any other information that will guide our work together. We’ll explore whether a meal plan, structured goals, or other tools feel supportive for you. My role is to collaborate with you in creating a treatment plan that promotes positive, sustainable behavior change and supports your overall health.
