About Janai

I’m a functionally trained dietitian and lactation consultant with about 25 years in this work. I help people make sense of their bodies, food, and health in ways that actually fit real life, not someone else’s ideal plan. My work centers on metabolic health (blood sugar and hormones) and gut health, along with reproductive care (pregnancy and postpartum), including lactation support. I take a functional, integrated view of health, looking at how metabolism, digestion, hormones, stress, sleep, movement, and nourishment work together. I translate that into practical guidance people can actually use. I support sustainable fat loss, with or without GLP-1 medications, using a modern, real-world approach rooted in evidence, safety, and your intuition. It lights me up to help people make peace with food and feeding after years of mixed messages or confusion. After working together, people often feel calmer, less overwhelmed, and more confident moving forward.

Approach to care

My approach is calm, intuitive, and collaborative. I look at the whole picture rather than isolating one symptom or number, because health rarely lives in silos. I pay close attention to the nervous system, knowing that when the body feels overwhelmed or unsafe, change is much harder to sustain. I work with a modern, real-world approach rooted in evidence and safety, while staying flexible enough to meet people where they are. That means focusing on what’s realistic and sustainable, not rigid rules or perfection. A big part of my work is helping people make peace with food and feeding, rebuild trust in their bodies, and move away from cycles of guilt or frustration. My goal is to support steady, realistic changes that people can maintain over time.

Your first session with Janai

The first session is unhurried and focused on understanding the full picture. I take time to learn about your health history, current concerns, goals, and what you’ve already tried. I’m listening not just for symptoms, but for patterns and how everything is affecting your daily life and relationship with food and your body. This isn’t a rushed intake or a one-size-fits-all visit. I help organize complex concerns and bring clarity where things have felt confusing or overwhelming. You’ll leave with direction and practical next steps, not a long list of rules. Most people tell me they feel calmer, more grounded, and more confident after our first visit.
